Integrating Heat Shock Molecular Chaperones into the Histone Chaperone Network

Abstract

Through the integration of structure-guided and functional proteomic assays we have identified and characterised a protein that encodes both histone chaperone and heat shock co-chaperone functionalities. My talk will describe our in-depth functional analysis of this novel link between the histone chaperone and heat shock molecular chaperone worlds. This work reveals a surprising continuous need for heat shock catalysis to interface with histone chaperone biology. Heat shock biology impacts many cellular processes and when combined with the multidisciplinary nature of our work I hope this seminar will appeal to a broad audience.
