Rachael Di Santo, a student in the Stark Group, has won the Singer Instruments competition to name their new tetrad dissection microscope. Not only has the microscope been endowed with Rachel’s suggested name, the Stark Group also received a free microscope worth £6,000. Rachael was filmed in the Stark laboratory receiving the news of her win and the new microscope.

She said, ‘It was a complete surprise! I’m so pleased my entry won. The new microscope looks amazing and I’m looking forward to using it as soon as possible.’

Mike Stark said ‘I’m delighted that Rachael has shown the creativity and imagination to come up with a winning name for the new microscope, giving us the opportunity to have one in the lab.’

And in case you were wondering, the microscope is called ‘Spore Play’.
