Professor Angus Lamond is being awarded an honorary degree by the University of Southern Denmark, Syddansk Universitet. Professor Lamond will be receiving the degree of doctor scientiarium honoris causa (dr.scient.h.c.) from Vice-Chancellor Jens Oddershede at the University’s Annual Festival on 1 October 2010.

The University of Southern Denmark was established in 1998 through a merger of three major Danish universities. The university’s faculty of science has research strengths in the environment, first life on earth, operator algebra, efficient algorithms, synthetic biology, future pharmaceuticals and proteomics.

In response to the award Professor Lamond said, “It is great to be recognized by another prominent European University in the field of life sciences research. It is an acknowledgment by ones international peers of the very important research work into gene regulation and expression done at the Wellcome Trust Centre here in Dundee.”
