Congratulations to Yasmeed Ahmad from Angus Lamond’s laboratory who successfully passed her PhD viva on Friday 23 March 2012 March 23, 2012 The title of Yasmeen’s thesis was “Management, Visualisation and Mining of Quantitative Proteomics Data” and she presented her research in a seminar earlier the same day. Her The Internal Examiner was Professor Michael Ferguson, Dean of Research in the College of Life Sciences, and the External Examiner was Professor JuriRappsilber, who is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh. Prior to her postgraduate studies Yasmeen Ahmad was a Computer Sciences student, graduating from the School of Computing at the University of Dundee. Yasmeen’s PhD research was funded by studentship from the BBSRC. Her supervisor, Professor Angus Lamond said, “I congratulate Yasmeen on her successful defence of her PhD thesis and thank her also on behalf of all of our colleagues, who are now routinely using the powerful PepTracker software that she has created, to help us to manage and analyse proteomicsdata. It has been great to work with Yasmeen and see how she could bring her skills in computing and ‘big data’ analysis to help develop cell biology research in exciting new directions
